We have formed a close relationship with the Folkestone History Research Group, who meet in the Reading Room once a month.
FHRG was formed in December 2016 as an initiative of the Folkestone Peoples History Centre. The scope of the research and activities of the group covers a broad range of subjects and areas of research. The group endeavours to support the study of the history of Folkestone and its environs through original and collective historical research and to disseminate its findings through publication on the group’s website or in a paper format. The group holds regular informal monthly meetings.
The trustees of the Sandgate Heritage Trust agreed to give a grant, to this newly formed Research group, to support their important work. We look forward to viewing the results of their research over the coming years.
In 2019 a series of informal talks is to be given in the Reading Room on Saturday mornings; an annual lecture is to be given in the Chichester Memorial Hall; an annual exhibition is to given at Sandgate Library; any printed material published by the research group is to be promoted in Sandgate.
